Night Trippin

More dancing took a hold of my Friday night in SF. My outfit consisted of two slips, one cream and one black that I purchased that same day at the thrift store in my city. As soon as I got home I washed them and ended up cutting about an inch off the black one so the pretty lace on the cream one would show just a bit. Underneath my slips I wore my David Bowie t-shirt. I tried to keep it simple and I was totally pleased that the weather cooperated and did not have to bring my faux fur jacket out for a change. Right when this photo was taken I was quite frustrated that I could not locate the party for my posse and I, hella annoying. Once we did (it was located in hole in the wall in an alley) the memories of frustration were long gone.

Newbies!
Finally! I had the opportunity to do a teensy-bit of shopping for myself. I got the following two pairs of pants:
Sharkskin Twill Pant from White House Black Market
My obsession for trousers continues...

Don't know why I did not consider Zumiez for jeans in the past. They have A LOT of skinny jeans, which was exactly what I have been looking for the past few months.
Empyre Girl Eve Grey Jean

I've already worn the skinny jeans two or three times and they are tight as hell (literally), which I adore and have only tried on the trousers at the store. I liked how they made my ass look round and they just look really cool paired with platforms. I am so happy that I have new pants because it has been really chilly here lately...

I Found You!
Ode to Joy! I knew the day would come when I would find THE perfect bike. I knew I wanted a cruiser, but that was about it and when I saw this beauty I just knew it was THE ONE...

Meet the Cougar GTS 26" Cruiser.....I love you....I want you so bad I am going to work extra hard to get you soon (tear).

Spring Fever
It's come to my attention that I dress too much like an old lady. I've been thinking about that lately and I think I need to chill a bit with the old lady clothes and savor my youth. That does not mean that I am not going to shop for old clothes, but I have to be creative with what I choose to wear. Spring is upon us so I thought I would check out some inspiration. Here is what I'm digging:

I can play with my love for black during the evening of course and go for something crazy like what Miss Chloe is wearing. She's definetly sexy, but not trashy and that is exactly what I like. Another thing that I adore about this outfit is that its kinda 80's and I never wear anything from that decade. What I need to purchase to compliment what I have in my current wardrobe: leather thin black jacket and lacy black see-through dress. Oh and I think I will skip the huge cross and sport a rosary, I am sure that will make my mother very happy ;)

So I thought...who screams sex with their clothes?? I then immediately looked for D & G's Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear Collection and I did not love anything in particular, but I did like how a cute spring airy short dress looks paired with a cute fitted leather jacket. It's a combination of girly and badass and there are not too many layers here. I do not have any fun little dresses like the one above, but I am thinking of chopping and tweaking an old lady dress that I have never worn. I would also need to hunt for a brown leather jacket to complete the look.

Speaking of fun spring dresses I dig this one by Anna Sui's Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear Collection. It's fun, youthful, and it looks totally vintage...gotta love that. I also really like the see-through metallic socks, I need to find me a pair!

Here is another effortless look by Anna Sui's Spring Collection. I'm thinking about doing a skirt like that with a vest (no shirt) and a scarf. This is absolutely perfect for the hot scorching days to come when you must look fabolous, but cool at the same time.

There's a lot of classic cotton pieces like these in DKNY's 2008 Spring Ready-To-Wear Collection. Shorts are a total essential for Spring, but so difficult to shop for. On me they look bulky and the ones that do fit are too long. What I like about this outfit is that it's simple in the sense that there is not much going on, but it looks totally sexy. I think the belt totally creates that sex appeal because it highlights the waist.

This last one is up my alley, I know for a fact that trousers look great on me. I like the tank tucked in and the red obi, a simple diy project. This look could totally be worn from day-to-night, which is another plus.

Ladiesssss
I totally forgot about these photos that were taken about two weekends ago. The party took place at the Avalon in San Jose.

In case you are wondering about the mood of the party here it is...

There were two female dancers, one was wearing boots with fur. The music was so so....actually I'm not going to lie, it was HORRIBLE. I had a fantastic time though dancing with my friends who I don't spend enough time with because we have opposite schedules and my sister the DJ.

Binge

Cheetos Flamin Hot Puffs, or crack cocaine (as I refer to it) is consuming my life! It all started with the crunchy ones and now I can't stop indulging in the puffy ones (thanks to my brother). We are seriously addicted! They are spicy to the point your nose is watery and you feel like you have a cold ( I know!) I've gone as far as to try the crunchy ones with cream cheese ( I know!) upon the suggestion of my homegurl Susana. When I told Lil P about this method he told me that everyone at his school eats them like that...some even put Flammin Cheetos in their bagels! I KID YOU NOT. I recommend that you try them at least once in your life because otherwise you will be extremely deprived...
Ps: Just to give you a head's up, your fingers will be bright orange/red after you indulge. You can try to wash it off, but the color will remain at least for a day.

Feeling Better...

The medicine totally helped me last night. Even though my left ear is still infected and my sinus remains, the cold seems to have passed for the most part. I woke up this morning starving so I prepared the BEST breakfast ever: NACHOS! I made them with whole grain tortilla chips, fish fillet, guacamole, refried beans, mexican fried rice, and my mother's awesome salsa made with tomatillos! I'm going into work later today so I will use this time to take it easy and swallow as much medicine as possible to kill this horrible sickness.
Sick As F$ck

I have a little issue with staying in at night during the weekend, but even though I am sick as hell (day 3 or is it 4?) I went out to the bookstore to read and to the drugstore to buy something to kill this massive throat, sinus, ear infection cold I have. I think today might be the worse since I've been putting off buying medicine for some strange reason. I probably took longer to get ready to go out than the actual time I spent doing all this. I feel lame. Now what I really want is a burrito and even though I have all the stuff I need to make one in my fridge (I am after all Mexican) I have the strong desire to actually venture out into the cold and buy one. I hate staying in, did I mention that?
Pacific Art Collective 5 Year Anniversary Party
I ran into old friends from my early years of college, which was a surprising treat. I did not care much for the live bands, but the LIVE art was absolutely amazing. By the time I arrived the eight artists or so who collabotared on this beautiful mural were into their third hour. One of my favorite things ever is to watch people create things, whether it be music, paint, glass-blowing, cooking, whatever...the experience is totally inspiring and motivating.

Lazy day at Chinatown
Lil P and I took a little stroll through Chinatown in San Francisco today. I love this place because there is so much to see. There are a gazillion shops that sell anything from jewelry to herbs to eastern music instruments and delicious food. We passed through a park where children were running on the playground and older Chinese men and women were playing cards. It was lovely...

Before going home we ventured into Haight Street for the usual music shopping. There is quite a lot of writing around this neighborhood, we totally dug Mr. World in a suit and mustache minding his own business and smoking his pipe.

Monday I ditched my internship because I was tired as hell and called my wifey over for a day of gurl time. The day was quite the sucess!
We cooked a delicious feast. We ate and I kind you not: chips and salsa, salty peanuts, jicama and cucumbers, margaritas, flautas, mexican fried rice, vegetable soup, wine, pan dulce, and coffee (over the span of a day of course)..Here she is preparing the flautas.

We made three kinds: tuna, shrimp, and potatoe. The tuna had diced bell peppers and onions as you can see.

Here are the flautas rolled up and frying in olive oil. They taste like heaven...

And I made a vegetable soup that was spicy!

We shared the fruits of our labor with Drea...

After our wonderful meal we lounged in my room and made cards, my favorite hobbie btw. It was quite relaxing and I will post photos later of some of the cute stuff we made at another time. I also had my wifey listen to all my music: Doors, Jimi, Troupe Vitalis, etc...Since meeting her I've gotten a crash course in Hip Hop 101, so it was only natural that I return the favor and give her a lesson myself. She loved it of course and I also let her borrow the essential: "Please Kill Me" by Lester Bangs.
Once night came we made our way to San Jose for her interview with Bay Area Producer Traxamillion at KSJS.

DJ Savvy is off the hizzy!

Traxamillion talked about his involvement with the Hyphy Movement (he makes beats) and about his early days as an underground hip hop cat. He was really sweet and told me I smelled like grapefruit, aww.

Saturday night I went to a fund raiser. I wore the maternity dress (no, I'm not pregnant) I bought at the Wasteland and my velvet black blazer. The dress was too cute to pass up! The event took place at a hall and 150 or so people came for some tasty food and dance partayyy.

This is the best photo I could get of my mother shaking her a$$. She's a dancing machine I tell you!

Check out the cute old man on the right dancing with his grandaughter (I'm assuming). He was having a grand ol' time until this young guy got in the middle and started to dance with the girl! The last time I saw him was when he walked out of the building, in tears I bet!

This is what happens when you bust out the balloons at our parties...

Geo came through towards the end of the evening as the party was winding down.

At this point I was tired as f$ck and passed out right when I got home.

Booboo Loves Me More
Just a quick hello before I get ready to go make some paper. Just came back from one of my internships. This one is probably my favorite because I get to work with primary sources! Today for instance, I continued my work in progress of translating from Spanish to English a document from 1815. In case you are wondering that was 193 years ago! Yes, I LOVEEEEEEEE what I do...

Thai and Italian=Party In My Mouth
Ode to Joy! Lil P found my camera cable so I was able to finally retrieve my missing photos, including these of a faboo Thai dinner that I had with my groupie J. The food was so f$cken tasty....yumm. As you can see from the appetizing photos bellow, we had a delicious shirmp and lemon soup, a spicy fish stir-fry, steamed rice and hot tea. We love the sea!

I think this was a day or two after I dyed my hair "soft black." The color totally washed off now and it's back to brown...

I'm considering getting it professionally dyed red this summer. Whatcha think?
Tonight I went out with my hoochies Steve and Andrea for some girltalk at Pasta?. Omygosh I had an orgasm eating my delicious Penne All' Arriabbata, Cabernet "Eagle Canyon," and the most delicious chocolate ice cream with chocolate powder sprinkled on top. It was nice hearing about how much sex Andrea is having and I am not :) In honesty, I secretly love how much she is getting. I love it when my friends are happy!!!
According to Steve and Andrea I looked "French" tonight...

By any chance does anyone know of any cool makeup books? I love doing my makeup, but I would like some fresshhh ideas!!!! HELP!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Friday night I picked up my favorite party animal Geo and met up with D and our work crew Susana and Kim at Bluechalk in Palo Alto, or Lamechalk as I like to call it. Picture a room full of horny men who think they look hot in slacks and buttom-up striped shirts and a horrid dj who probably downloaded the playlist of a commercial hip hop radio station for inspiration and you got Lamechalk. The night was not bad though because I was with my homegurls, homeboy, a bottle of Grey Goose, and organic treats to keep us happy all might.

I'm always surrounded by sexy ladies. I love it, I ain't gonna lie...

Word to your mother.
Saturday night at J's house.

In case you are wondering:
Snoop inspired P.I.M.P. coat bought at the Wasteland, Haight Street
Juicy Couture Jeans, hand-me-downs from his sister
Gap navy blue long-sleeved top, Xmas gift from his idol
Vest bought at Held Over, Haight Street
Navy blue and black paisley pattern scarf, thrift store, Xmas gift from his idol
Necklace, gift from some ho
Leather brown belt, Lucky Brand Jeans, Xmas gift from his mother

Ater we got dolled up we rolled over to the Mezzaine to catch another installment of Tormenta Tropical. I dig the parties of Bersa Discos because they play cool Cumbia beats and decorate the place with papel picado and those frames that light up of La Virgen de Guadalupe that you get at the Flea market for $10, makes me think of home...

No dancing pictures this time, but there was plenty of it that night that's fo sho.
Sunday morning I went over to visit Master J and Jimi. We had the most amazing lazyyy time eating tuna and rice and watching the finale of Project Runway.

Jimi and I had a spiritual connection over organic treats, it was nice...
This is not Master J btw.

Sunday night I met up with my wifey for a Japanese meal at Sunraku on Sutter Street. We had the most amazing sushi and sake sampler. I am so glad that we got the sampler because i got to try three different kinds of sake. After our lovely dinner we headed over to the Fillmore to watch Immortal Technique who were in town from Harlem, New York. I would describe the show as: bold, loud and politically- oriented. The Brown Berets were in the house to show their love for Immortal Technique, which I thought was very nice of them.
"Whatcha lookin' at? I'll bust yo lip!"
(Yes, that is Minie Mouse holding an AK47)

"F$cken pigssss!"

DJ GI Joe. He was off the hizzy. Very entertaining and I wish my laptop did not hate youtube because I have a mad clip of him doing his thang.

...and I randomly ran into my baby's daddy!

I love it when that hapens...
DJ GI Joe. He's good. TRUST me.

Film Noir a la 2008.
More men...
Finally. Perfection.
Men's Fall 2008 Gucci
At times like these I wish I was a man...

This is just pure genius! I absolutely ADORE how these men were styled, they look fresssssshhhhhh. Apparently the designer had a gypsy and Russia in mind when she created this collection. I think she also had Jimi Hendrix on her mind, but then again the Electric Ladies had gypsies in their minds when they styled Jimi right?

Jim's Words of Wisdom

Jim Morrison, or "My Baby's Daddy" as I like to refer to him is God. I recently bought his poetry book, "The Lords and the New Creatures," and all I can say is that I am in love. I admire the way he thinks because its real and honest. A good chunck of the poems are about his love for cinema, my favorites being...
Film spectators are quiet vampires.
And...
Cinema is most totalitarian of the arts. All
energy and sensation is sucked up into the skull,
a cerebral erection, skull bloated with blood.
Caligula wished a single deck for all his subjects
that he could behead a kingdom with one blow.
Cinema is this transforming agent. The body
exists for the sake of the eyes; it becomes a
dry stalk to support these two soft insatiable
jewels.
And...
Film confers a kind of spurious eternity.
(Those are three separate poems btw)
You can tell by the way he writes that he was completely connected with the world. He saw what it meant and he carried those revelations through his poetry and his performance onstage. Too bad that he had to pass at an early age. I can only imagine how he would continue to contribute to music...

Twelve By Twelve
Apparently Forever 21 has a new brand of clothing called Twelve by Twelve. There are three separate collections called, "Culture Club," "Sixties Glam Couture," and "Twenties Art Deco." My favorite items were the dresses:

...and I totally want these trousers to wear with floppy hats and platforms.

What's super appealing about the clothes are their price tags. Dresses are about $30 depending on which one you get and the pricier items are coats for $50 or so. Gosh I really need to go shopping for clothes! I'm sick of seeing the same things hanging from my closet...

I left my heart at Betsey
Betsey Johnson Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear
A lot of people talk shit about Betsey, but I am always happy with everything that she comes up with every season. Sure, it might look a little too costumey, but to be honest I would wear her stuff in a heart beat. I totally fell in LOVE with the following looks. The girls look so damn cool you wish you knew them, you know what I mean? I get so exited about getting dressed when I see looks from head to toe like these, the hair, full face of makeup, accessories, and BAM! a gorgeous vintage INSPIRED outfit.

Shopping at vintage shops is my favorite, but I figured out that I do not dress head to toe in vintage. I like modern clothing as well, but with a old-skool flare...like the sweet pair of denim trousers I bought a couple of months ago. When I wear the denim I have to wear platforms because they are so long I totally get reminded of the pictures of my mom as a teen in the 1970's with her bell bottoms. Some things are meant to come back.

Party for D
Despite the fact that my body is tired and beaten from the crazy schedule that I carry: three internships, two jobs (three if you count babysitting), and going out at least four days a week...I managed to make it to D's 23rd Birthday Party. There was no way I could really miss it. D had been planning it for the past two months or so and we all patiently looked forward to its arrival like parents waiting for their first born. The hizzy took place in the city of San Jo (San Jose for you non-Bay Areans) at Club Vivid. Our party of forty or so (who could keep track really) were escorted to a VIP room upstairs where we were presented with a couple of bottles, Bombay Sapphire was present upon my suggestion. I almost did a crazy happy dance after noticing that there was a DJ booth in our room, but sadly my heart was ripped out of my chest and fed to the garbage disposal. There was no private DJ at our dispense and I had to suffer through the worst music being mixed my the lamest DJ ever at the actual club. He played that fucken "Soulja Boy" song and all the other commercial bullshit that you could imagine. I honestly wanted to slice my wrists and feed a vampire. Regardless of this I danced my ass off because I'm like that.
At this very moment I wanted to pass out in a fluffy comfy bed. My feet ached and I was way too intoxicated.

"Always, no sometimes, think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream"
Hi. It was not my intention to go as long as I did without writing a post, but I can't find the cable that hooks up my camera to my laptop, which means I can't upload photos of my recent happenings. To be honest I can't remember what the hell I've been up to lately. I did have a wonderful Valentine's Day last night with one of my favorite people in the world. We cooked, or should I say he cooked a feast consisting of grilled salmon, pasta with mariana sauce and olives and eggplant parmesan. My contribution was rosemary crackers paired with a garlic brie, steamed broccoli and a bottle of local wine. The night was perfect because we watched the most current episode of Project Runway. That show is amaziiiiinggggggg. Go Christian!
Since I lack current photos I am totally inclined to share some of one of my favorite memories from my trip to New York City last October. It is especially memorable because I was completely by myself on that particular outing and I got to walk through Central Park and find Strawberry Fields...
Central Park is gorgeous. There are many many beautiful old trees, ponds, trails, and spectacular nature all around. People can be seen walking their dogs, running, or playing with their children at one of the many playgrounds.

I wish I could have shared this moment with somebody because I was highly emotional. It was very peaceful. There were a lot of people paying their respects and sharing their favorite Beatles stories.

The Dakota. Highly guarded might I add for obvious reasons. Exquisite architecture.

And this concludes my 100th post! Yay me!

Too Good To Be True?
Proenza Schouler Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear
I can die happy now. This is my favorite collection so far and I know it's going to take a lot to beat it. I LOVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE me some jewl tones and they managed to use so many in beautiful combinations it makes me so happy and totally motivates me to dress better. The folds and pleats are brilliant because those particular details make an outfit look totally complete and there is really no reason to wear jewelry, you know what I mean? The look as a whole is totally solid. I also really appreciate the menswear looks. They totally remind me of Anita Palenberg, but a modern version. Another great thing about this collection is the use of glittermania. I'm so glad sequins are not out of the fashion sphere just yet because I have tons of it in my wardrobe. Thank you Proenza Schouler. I love you!!!!!

This is one of my favorite looks. Sapphire blue, long trousers, giant bow...

I am determined to find purple pumps so I can recreate this outfit. The color usage is amazing!!!

...and of course there is black and white. I am sooooooo glad I dyed my hair black because I realllllyyyyyy love how these ladies look with these two hues.

Ode to Fall
Philosophy Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear
This outfit looks so easy and effortless, but totally put together at the same time. I also really like how comfy all the layers look and the dark greys. When it doubt on what to wear, choosing all dark hues always does the trick for me...

Another effortless look and delicate at the same time. I am totally digging the undergarment/20's flapper dress underneath the black coat. The heavy 90's boots work perfectly and I am so happy that textured thights are still hottt.

Marc by Marc Jacobs fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS LOOK! Bright yellow paired with black might make some think of a taxi cab, but I think that the combination screams fuck*ng off the hizzy. She looks so awesome with the hat as well, very cool looking girl.

I think the whole look is great, but the jacket is super cool all by itself. Very unique and a fun new spin on a motorcycle jacket. Can I also mention how awesome the two models look with sunglasses??!!! LOVE it! I totally wear sunglasses ALL THE TIME and have a gazillion pairs stashed in my drawers with broken this and that because I always manage to sit on them or scratch them one way or the other.

TSE Fall 2008 Ready-To-Wear
I would wear this in a heartbeat!!! I love how confident she appears. She looks badass and intelligent. I think I have a good chance of emulating this look because I own a kick ass pair of long denim trousers and a big black faux fur coat. The only thing that I need is a wine hued high collar blouse...

Another ivy league look. I can't resist! Give me a textbook and lead me to the library! Again, the colors are fabooo and I love the 70's feel of it.

Fat Tuesday
Heyyyyyyyyyyy! Today I hit the theater before work and watched The Orphanage. The film was good, but it was not great. To be honest I had higher expectations, but I just can't forgive the fact that the filmmaker had to explain every damn thing to the viewer. I hate when that happens. It totally reminded me of M. Night Shyamalan and his last films The Village and Lady In the Water. Anyways, The Orphanage was cool because it had a creepy cold vibe like The Others and it was shot in a huge old mansion.
Meet Tomas. His momma makes him wear this bag over his head because he is deformed. Does she really think that drawing a scary clown face is going to improve his self-esteem?!

...and even though it was icy outside it did not deter me from wearing my cute little skirt to work. The fur kept me cozy so it was all gooooooodddddd...

Izzy the mugger
This weekend was fun fun fun! Even though my dream did not come true and I did not go out to a disco where I could dance until the wee hours of the night, I managed to keep it real. I got to see one of my favorite people ever, Geo. Geo's real name is Chris, but I started calling him that because even though he would never admit to it, I know he has a secret obsession with the awesome car with the same name. Here he is wearing my faux fur hat...

I also ate a lot of nachos this weekend...

...and wore my Erin Fetherston dress that I got from Target on super sale for like $11 and my new faux fur jacket from White House Black Market. I've been buying and have been gifted with a lot of faux fur lately. My mother bought me a white fur best and my aunt surprised me with a white fur jacket. It totally makes me look super chunck so I will have to wear it with sleazy dresses so the attention is focused on that instead.

I dyed my hair black as you can see...

For a while I played with the idea of dying it Juliane Moore red, but I was super bored one evening and drove to the store and bought a box of dye.
Today I got to see my favorite cutie, Izzy. She enjoys mugging people for no apparent reason and I think that is the coolest thing.

Ha ha! This photo is priceless...

Even though I can't vote because I am not a Citizen I like to keep up with the elections. Tonight I went to my old school San Jose State University to hear Michelle Obama speak. She was brilliant of course and if I could vote, I would probably vote for her husband.

I think we need a president like him and a first lady like her. Young, intelligent, motivated, and not afraid of change. That's beautiful...
My evening outfit. I was coming home from feeding a group of kitties...

I cat sit sometimes.

Winter...
You are so difficult because you make me incredibly cold. My friends are unmotivated and do not want to leave their couches and dance. Then comes the rain day and night until my front entrance is flooded.

There Will Be Blood is GOD
There Will Be Blood is the first film that I've watched with Daniel Day-Lewis and I will judge from this single performance that he could possibly be the greatest actor in the world. He was TOO good, flawless, real, alive, vivid, direct, believeable, consistent. Now, I've heard from several people that he is a method actor and it's apparent from how well he acted that he is. I mean, how can you pull off that performance at the flick of a switch? Every single move that he did was natural. If I was an actor I would engage in method acting myself. There is no way I could just jump from being myself to being Daniel Plainview in a second, I would have to fully emerge myself in the character in order to do quality work.
And I can't believe the transformation...

And then there is Paul Thomas Anderson. So let me get this straight...he wrote, produced and directed this film?!!! Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!!????!!! I love smart people. I absolutely adored the way he shot the film. The camera movements were so cool! I specially adored when he panned the camera swiftly from one character to the next in a single scene. I have appreciated this man ever since watching two of my favorite films which he directed, Magnolia and Boogie Nights. He put two of my favorite actors, Julianne Moore and Philip Seymour Hoffman in both films and I have to love him for that...

Running brain
Blah, I have a million things to do but sadly lacking motivation. I know its going to bite me in the ass, but all I can think about is another million things such as: reading my magazines, going to Haight to buy a dress, visiting museums, starting another internship, finding a new job? (I've been thinking about that since I got my jobs), music and music theory, d-jaying, song combinations, eating bread, cleaning, new ways to do my makeup, running, how sick-and-tired I am of the damn rain and cold, summer, rays of light, Jim Morrison, poetry, being warm, organizing, my aching back, having fun, going out, staying in, saving up, parents, being lazy, watching a film, and it does not end there really... Many of my friends and people at work have told me that lately I've been extra quiet. Maybe I should vocalize the above.
And as always, I'm thinking about how perfectly diverse and cool this city is...

Yes, I am crying right about now....someone buy me a plane ticket so I can go back. I don't think I can survive waiting until October.
