Hello there! Yes, I am bummed out because I won't get to see Vincent Gallo, but at the same time I'm not too pissy about it because I saw him last year play with Sean Lennon at Bimbo's and it was already a good experience. I will be seeing Bjork on the 19th of May and I can't wait! This woman is totally awesome. I think I love every part about her. The thing I am most impressed with is her voice of course. Jeremiah and I were talking about her the other day and we can't seem to wrap our heads around her singing style. Bjork is not human we decided. Her brain works in a very unique manner because of the way she chooses to sing each word.

Enough about how WONDERFUL Bjork is (I will probably write more later about her costumes, music videos, etc.) The Troupe Vitalis show last Tuesday at Bottom of the Hill was AMAZING!! Thank you Mark for taking my request "Poinsettia Crying"!!!!!!!! "Divine" and "Crying" were among my favorites that night as well. Troupe Vitalis had amazing energy and they look good playing. I think it's safe to safe that they had the most people show up and hopefully they will get another show there because Bottom of the Hill is seriously one of the coolest venues. They have a really loud sound system which makes every show that I have been to there among the most memorable. I am hoping to get pictures from that night soon so I can share, but if you would like to see the performance it might be up on the myspace and soon on their official site www.troupevitalis.com

Tomorrow I am going to check out Explosions in the Sky at Slim's and Mr. Conan O'Brien himself, THE BEST LATE NIGHT SHOW COMEDIAN AND OVERALL FUNNIEST GUY EVER (well, Ricky Gervais is probably the funniest) on Wednesday. I am thrilled, exited, and ready to piss my pants just thinking about Max Weinberg and his band play the intro song and Conan doing his intro dance and monologue. I heard the guests for the week are going to be Robin Williams and Snoop Dogg himself among others. I would DIE to see Snoop. Jeremiah won't let me see him in concert because he thinks I'm going to get shot so this is my chance (I'm crossing my fingers that he is the guest on May 2nd, the day we have tix for).

Lastly, I must mention that I am in LOVE with the Will Ferrell video "The Landlord" on www.funnyordie.com Pearl is my homegirl! "I want to get my drink on!"

Iggy Pop is God. Now I know why they call him the Godfather of Punk. The Stooges show (I can't believe I was actually there) was phenomenal. I attended the April 21st show at the Warfield, which happened to be the day of his 60th birthday with my brother and Jeremiah. We got there after the first band had finished playing and we quickly made our way to our sweet spot. The band started playing a little before 9:30pm and as soon as Iggy stepped into the stage the crowd went wild and I began jumping up and down like a little girl.

These are some pictures I found from SFgate.com, I took some pictures with my cam phone, but we all know that they are not the most reliable things for shows:

The band totally rocked out and more can be said about Iggy. I really can't belive that he has the energy that he has at age 60, and he looks damn good too! He did his Iggy moves--jumped around on stage, beat the speakers with his mic, picked up the mic and repeatedly hit it on the stage, took the microphone wire and pretended to choke himself, danced, threw water from bottles onto himself (I counted 5 one time), and as you can probably see from the picture on top, he dove into the crowd at least three times (one of the times his roadie dove into the audience to retrieve him). Oh yeah, and he invited the crowd to go onstage and dance with him. Jeremiah attempted to go onstage, but a security person stopped him because there were way too many people on stage already. Bummer. The band also had two encores and they played "Happy Birthday" for Iggy and the crowd sang along, SO COOL! White and black balloons fell from the ceiling and Iggy had a good 60th birthday and we left the place in awe.

Tonight is the Blonde Redhead show at Bimbo's, but we are not going to be able to make it. I have a lot of things to do and I would rather save my energy for tomorrow when Troupe Vitalis plays at Bottom Of The Hill.

The Raconteurs at the Warfield last year. Jack White is the best. Photos taken from our sweet spot.
Yesterday night was the From Monument to Masses show at Bottom of the Hill. Jeremiah and I hung out at our friend's place and we were having such a great time, but we still managed to make it to the city for the show. The place was packed and we came in just before the band played which was awesome because I did not want to wait and endure two annoying bands play before FMTM came on. The show ended up being okay. I think we were all feeling drained out and the show dragged a bit long. Their new songs were not the best, but they put on a great performance because they were happy to be playing. After the show we stuck around for a bit so Jeremiah could promote the 4/24 show and after that we returned to our homes and I passed out until noon this morning.

I was planning on going to Troupe Vitalis' Streetlight Show, but I think I'm going to save my energy for tonight when I get to see one of the greatest people in the world, MR. IGGY POP. Jeremiah read in the paper that today is his 60th birthday and I am honored that I will be present at the show to celebrate with him. Ever since I read Please Kill Me a couple of years ago I fell in love with the movement. The Stooges will be playing at the Warfield, which is an excellent location because the sound is really sharp there. It's an old theatre, but we have general admission so we are going to park ourselves in the spot where we always go to because it has the best view in the house. I won't say where because the spot's location will be revealed, but I promise that it is perfect.

Also, I am very ecstatic because we managed to snag tickets to see Conan O'Brien when he makes his SF stop. We have tix for Wed., May 2nd. IT SHOULD BE GREAT. Conan is hands down the funniest late night comedian EVER.

I did not write about this earlier, but on Easter Sunday I went to the city with my family and hung out at Pier 39. I was VERY exited because the sea lions are there!!! I went to the Pier 39 website and they have a web cam so you can enjoy the sea lions EVERY day until they are gone. Upon a lil research I found out that the sea lions have been making stops to the docks of the pier for the past seventeen years! So cute!

Okay so this photo is obviously old, but I just have to post it because I LOVE the location.

I say better late than never...On March 31st I attended the Mars Volta show at the Berkeley Community Center and hands down it was THE BEST SHOW THAT I HAVE EVER. I should note that I go to A LOT of shows and have seen MANY bands, some of them multiple times (Interpol, 6 times). The venue was a theater and there were seats, but the security was lenient so we hung out part of the show in the front left, right near the stage. The sound was great and the band rocked out. Cedric was very dramatic, which means that he was always doing something (screaming out to the audience, dancing, swinging the microphone around, picking the microphone pole with his teeth, climbing the amps, and so on). One of the things that he did was to go into the aisles. I happened to be standing right by the center aisle towards the back of the theater at that particular time, and was lucky enough to shake hands with him. Of course I went totally mad because he totally reeks cool. He probably had the best time during the show because he jumped in and played Marcel's drums. Omar rocked out throughout the whole performance and my love for his guitar style grew even more that night. There is something very reminiscent of Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix when he plays the guitar that I can't get enough of. I thought that the Santa Cruz show was superb, but this show took the cake. Because the venue was relatively larger than the Catalyst, the band was able to display some cool artsy backgrounds, which were totally psychedelic. Combine that with killer lights and an all-talented band and you got yourself the ultimate show. Oh how I love this band!

In other news, I am happy to report that the White Stripes' new album, Icky Thump will be coming out June 19th and this is the art work for the cover:
