Yikes it's been a while. I've been in a real chill mode lately. I've been reading a lot which is a great thing because it means less time on the computer each day. I just finished a very shall we say...interesting book by Pamela Des Barres from the GTO's, "Let's Spend the Night Together." I'm sure many of you music lovers are aware of this recently published book about the groupie world. For the most part I enjoyed the book because I got a lot of crazy insight into the private worlds of some of my all time favorite musicians: Iggy, Jimi, Jimmy, and Bowie just to name a few. There is also an interview with Marilyn Manson's groupie which I totally adored because I usually read about 60's musicians, so it was a nice reading about the goth scene for a change. I've read a few reviews about the book in Bust and Nylon and I have to agree that even though the book is good there were some parts that I totally did not care for. For instance, there are some women and men who become "groupies" or "muses" because they love the music above all and then there are groupies who are totally gross and have sex with anyone associated with the band just so they can get in the pants of the musician. I think that is totally lame and there were some women that were interview by Miss Pamela that I thought fit that later category.

After reading a book about groupie sex the most natural thing was to pick up "Cannery Row" by John Steinbeck. Totally kidding, but I am actually about to complete it and let me just kick myself for not reading John Steinbeck before. I totally dig his style of writing because he has a knack for writing description without being too verbose or cheesy. I absolutely adored the characters of Cannery Row and I especially feel bad for the boys at the Flop House because they got too drunk and the Doc's party was a totaly disaster. I am a few chapters from finishing it and after I finally complete "A Room Full Of Mirrors" by Charles R. Cross I think I am going to go back and read another Steinbeck. I have a few of his books that I picked up from a book sale like a gazillion years ago and never got around to reading them.

Books and music seem to be occupying me because I went to see the Brian Jonestown Massacre at the Independent on Tuesday (a completetly sold out show might I add). The show would have been totally awesome, but the band decided to keep the fans waiting for way too long! We seriously waited for at least an hour and a half and when they actually began playing they stopped mutiple times because people were picking fights with Anton. It was indeed annoying and I hate to say this, but I passed out many times. Jeremiah and I left at about one and who knows what time they actually stopped playing. I still adore BJM though because the albums have an awesome 60's spirit and I just have to respect that.

Omg one last thing before I forget! Guess who came into work the other day:

She is so beautiful in person, I totally heart her. I would have said something about her films but I opted not to because I get the idea that she is a very private person from the interviews she's given over the years. She told me her name was "Kelly" (indication that she does not want to be recognized) when I asked for her name for her lattes so I was totally not going to be the annoying fan who would ask for an autograph.

And because I totally liked the color combination I had going on today:

I'm wearing a vintage cowboy shirt in PURPLE that I got from the Goodwill at least three years ago. The beanie was knitted by my grandmother's sister (and it came with a matching cape mind you), the necklaces are Besty Johnson and Forever 21 and the attitude is all me!

Close up of my cool makeup. Hot pink lips a must when wearing purple. I look like a chola and I love it!
