On this particular outing our sight-seeing goal was to check out the World Trade Center...and anything in between. Serioulsy, when you are in Manhattan you don't need to plan a lot because no matter where you are you can physically see history. Take for example:
The architecture of the buildings in this town. How absolutely breath-taking! Everyone and their mothers wants to live in Manhattan, so to accommodate the generations and growing businesses each building is at least three, four or ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR floors high (take for example the Empire State Building, not the one pictured bellow btw):
Check out the beautiful details of this building. I'm not sure what purpose it serves or what its called (is it an apartment? offices?) but I just thought it looked phenomenal.
Old New York County Courthouse aka "Tweed Courthouse" with its early 19th century goodness:
One thing about this town is that there aren't a whole lot of trees. There are some small parks scattered around the city such as this one, located outside the Old New York County Courthouse:
Street sign commemorating the ladies of the Women's Civil Rights Movement:
The following church/cemetery caught my eye from a block away. This happens to be St. Paul's Chapel, built in 1766 and Manhattan's only pre-Revolutinary War Church!! Last year I read a book called "The Presence of the Past" and it totally opened my brain and stressed how significant physical history is. This church is two hundred and thrirty four years old....fucking AMAZING! And.....it's STILL standing considering the fact that it is a mere few yards from the World Trade Center.
Wouldn't it be awesome to film a zombie movie here? Omg I wonder what this place looks like at night!!???
And this is pretty much the only shot I got of the World Trade Center. There is still construction/clean-up under way and the hole is surrounded by a tall fence and a tarp, which means that you can't see much. I took this photo from a little opening in the fence:
We happened to be in front of the fire house accross the street from the World Trade Center when the firemen were returning from putting out a fire:
As soon as people saw them coming in they rushed to take pictures. Seriously, firemen are celebrities in this town:
Memorial plaque from the fallen firefighters who lost their lives September 11th:
So that's that for now. This post seriously took a year to compose. Now for some awesomeness, here is a photo of yours truly sporting the coolest hat:
I got it at H&M in the city and I wore it right away. The only thing that is troubling me is that people might think it's real....I just don't want to deal with PETA ;) Okay, so I got my nose pierced in NYC as you can see in the photo (you might have to click on the actual photo to enlarge it because its hella small). It looks fuken awesome but its driving me crazy because the bling is too small and it keeps going into my nose. It actually happened on the plane ride back home and I almost killed myself because it took me a whole hour to pierce it back beacuse I could not find the interior hole. Haha that was lovely.
Here is a cool photo of the current window display at Barney's in the city:
Haha! I LOVE it!
